Overview
The ground team’s emergency service. SOS gives fast germination to repair worn or damaged surfaces in the coldest months.
Usage
Designed for emergency mid-season turf repair, aiming for the fastest possible germination, establishment and growth in cool temperatures.
Features & benefits
The saviour of the winter season, this specially formulated product contains varieties that germinate and establish quickly to resurrect high-traffic areas on any pitch or racecourse. Barterra is an annual ryegrass that will germinate as low as 3.5°, quicker and at lower temperatures than perennial ryegrass, including tetraploid varieties. Barolympic provides a longer-term solution with good performance characteristics. Barolympic is a particularly wear-tolerant variety but it has an additional trait that makes it a perfect fit for this mixture. In repeat testing, Barolympic consistently outperforms other ryegrasses for low-temperature germination. Barenbrug research shows the advantages of using a hard-wearing diploid perennial ryegrass, rather than a tetraploid alternative, as a partner to annual ryegrasses for winter grass seed mixtures. In recent trials – overseeded in January at a soil temperature of 6.2°C – SOS was shown to establish and restore a sward faster than a perennial ryegrass, recovering from 20% to more than 60% within a month
